In early 1999 David Sutton and John Metzger along with 60 guards opened the doors of Knight Support (T) Ltd to look after the contract for Tanzania Portland Cement Company.
Now after almost 10 years they have grown to employing over 2000 personnel, and have offices in Dar, Arusha, Mwanza, Mbeya and now Nairobi.
The rest, as they say, is history…………….
David Sutton, Managing Director, has worked in the Security industry for over 20 years. He identified a gap in the market and set off to open Knight Support. Providing Radio Alarm Response and Static Guarding services. John Metzger, Technical Director, has also worked in the Security Industry for as many years, he was instrumental in the setting up of the new company and putting procedures and practices in place.

Not content with providing only Security Guarding and Radio Alarm services, David, along with the assistance of his wife, Tina, then started the first private ambulance service in Tanzania.
In 2000 and with one ambulance and training from our UK Consultant Ambulance and Fire Chief, Richard Baker – Knight Support’s Emergency First Response service was born.
Through demand the Ambulance and Paramedic Department soon grew and now Knight Support has Advanced Life Support Ambulances and highly skilled Paramedic and Emergency Medical Technicians in Dar, Arusha, Mwanza and of course now in Kenya!
Of course Emergency Services would not be complete without FIRE! 2001 saw the start of Knight Supports Emergency Response Fire Services, with 4 Merecedes Benz fire trucks and training from Richard Baker.

Word of these services spread like wild fire (sorry!) and now the team consists of
16 Fire Trucks, 3 Turn table Ladders, 4 water bowsers, High level rescue Equipment, Water Rescue Equipment and Road Traffic Accident Vehicle Extrication equipment. And much much more.
David and the Knight Support Team never think they have done enough – once Security, Ambulance and Fire had been added to the Knight Support Package, another gap was seen in the market of looking after our customers in providing damage free Vehicle Breakdown Recovery!
- Recovery Truck
No sooner was this idea put forward that Knight Support procured 2 flat back recovery trucks to offer to our clients the assurance that their vehicles will be looked after when they have a mechanical fault. If our mechanics cannot repair the fault at the scene then we will take your vehicle safely to a garage or your home!
- Motorbike Rapid Response
First Responder Motorbikes were added to the every growing Fleet of response vehicle in 2006. These 10 Bikers are all trained in First Aid in order to beat the Dar es Salaam traffic jams!
