Many people in Dar es Salaam have swimming pools or regularly go to the beach and swim.

On October 24th the Paramedic crew went up to HOPAC school and were taught how to assist people in trouble in the water and how to get them out safely when a spinal injury is suspected.

The crew were taught how to stabilize a person with suspected spinal injury in the water before carefully putting them onto a floating long board stretcher and getting them out of the water.

Being on the road in Tanzania can be a hazardous thing. On the 23rd October we set up a large road traffic accident on the peninsula involving a car and a motor bike and two pedestrians.

This sort of scenario involves all Knight Support departments working together.

The driver and his passenger are trapped inside the car and badly injured.

The driver of the motor cycle is trapped underneath the car and badly injured.

From 11^th to 25^th October the Dar es Salaam Paramedic Department played hosts to two visiting UK paramedics, Victoria Finn and Simon Rosenberg.

During their visit Victoria and Simon coordinated valuable training exercises with the Ambulance and Fire department including high level rope rescue scenarios and a Road Traffic Incident scenario. They re-assessed our paramedic team and made observations and valuable suggestions to improving the department.
