Dr Adrian Noon MB ChB, who is a Fellow in Immediate Care and Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, approached Knight Support to see if we would host two young Medical Students whilst they were on there elective in Tanzania.
We were only too happy to help out. Sadly for the girls they had to stay at Rhona's House!!
Laura Andeson and Victoria Chapman arrived in Dar on the 12th April and are with us until the 7th of June.
They are doing reciprocal training/learning within our Ambulance Department.
Our Senior Paramedic Co-Ordinator, Felister, has also taken them around the various hospitals within Dar es Salaam. They will spend time with the CCBRT, TMJ, IST Clinic, Muhambili Orthopaedic Hospital and Mwanayamala Hospital.
The girls will also spend a day out at the Salvation Army Disabled Children's Home with Major Joy Paxton and her wonderful team there.
They are spending two weeks of their Elective within the Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam.
After the Aga Khan, the girls will received their fourth year exam results - and everyone is hoping and praying they have passed with flying colours.
This comletely mad pair have also decided that they wish to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro and will spend some time up in Arusha with the Knight Support team there - Good Luck Girls!
Knight Support expresses their thanks to all the above people and organisations who have assisted with this Elective Timetable.
Please don't be concerned that we are working them too hard - I have photographic evidence that it has not all been work - I am open to persuasion as to whether or not these pictures are published on our website.
The girls played casualties in our recent joint team emergency training exercise and I will post these pictures in the next news page.
