West Midlands Fire Service have, for many years, been assisting Knight Support Fire & Rescue by providing specialist training in road accident rescue along with collapsed buildings and rescues from height expertise for our own Fire Fighters.
On their last visit, some of the Fire Officers were impressed by the existing charitable work undertaken by Knight Support, Golden Valley First Responder Unit and Shropshire Ambulance with the Salvation Army Disabled Children's Home in Dar es Salaam that they decided to find something special that would assist the children.
On their return to the UK, an in their own time, the members approached nearly all the West Midlands hospitals to locate spare unwanted prosthetic limbs to assist the work already being undertaken in Dar.
The transportation of two fire trucks from the West Midlands enabled the shipping of the limbs and some other stowaways that were provided by people of the West Midlands Fire Service workshops.
As you can see from the pictures, the limbs and toys were very much welcomed and will enable the Salvation Army to continue their brillient work.
Knight Support continues to support the Salvation Army by raising money and providing full emergency response for the home.
The Crew : Asst Chief Fire Officer John Brown, Sean Moore, Pete Mills, Rudy Parkes, Shyam (Shammi) Rana, Eddie Allsop, Dean Harris.
